About the role

IFAAS, leading international Islamic finance consultancy, is looking to recruit an exceptionally talented and experienced professional to join IFAAS team in our newly setup Lahore office. As member of the middle management team in IFAAS, the candidate is expected to contribute to the overall delivery of IFAAS projects and services, and will be reporting to IFAAS Pakistan’s Managing Director.

The prospective candidate must have a thorough understanding of the Islamic Finance industry and its dynamics, and be able to develop a strategy that would give us the edge over the competition. The Business Development Manager has to develop a pipeline of new business coming in to the company. This requires a thorough knowledge of the market, the solutions/services IFAAS can provide, and IFAAS competitors. The main duties of the Business Development Manager would be to:

New Business Development

  • Generate new leads through various means including personal contacts, partners, business sourcing websites etc.
  • Plan persuasive approaches and pitches that will convince potential clients to do business with the company.
  • Identify new business opportunities through market research and monitoring new trends & services. This also includes monitoring public tender announcements within the local and geographical markets.
  • Screen potential business deals, identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organization.
  • Plan approaches and pitches—to develop strong business proposals that speak to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives.
  • Be familiar with the pricing structure of services to offer assistance to key managers
  • Set up meetings between the client’s decision makers and IFAAS’s management.
  • Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements and working through differences to a positive conclusion. Use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate appropriately.
  • Develop / update promotional materials for the company (corporate brochure, website, presentation, social media)

Business Development Planning

  • Track all business development activities, analyse progress and suggest new strategies based on findings.
  • Build brand awareness through attending conferences, exhibitions, networking opportunities, and personal contacts.
  • Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels.
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in business.
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop IFAAS’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.

Office Management and Reporting

  • Submit weekly business pipeline and progress reports as well as other internal reports (as may be required)
  • Assistance in recruitment of staff when needed
  • Support other offices when needed
  • Developing and maintaining external consultants pool
  • Assistance in project management
  • Perform other administrative tasks

The successful candidate will have/be

  • A minimum 4 – 5 years’ experiences in the financial advisory industry or similar industry
  • Graduate Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Public Administration (Master’s Degree is a plus).
  • An excellent command of English is a must, any capability in French or Arabic will be a plus.
  • A very good command of MS Office (mainly Word, Excel, and Power Point).
  • Knowledge and ability to:
  • Plan, prioritise and implement required tasks to ensure successful, quality and timely delivery;
  • Manage projects, stakeholder feedback, evaluation and periodic monitoring/ reporting systems;
  • Draft professional reports & documentation and develop ad-hoc financial models.
  • Excellent networking, persuasion, prospecting, public speaking, research, writing, closing skills, as well as identification of customer needs and challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills.

  • A graduate degree (post-graduate would be an advantage) in Islamic finance/finance/Shariah or other relevant subjects.

About the role

  • Design and Implement a global communications strategy with clear objectives, messaging and transmission channels for target audience
  • Maintain a strong brand for the firm, including impactful and fit-for-purpose publications, website, videos, social media
  • Lead the development of project related communication strategies and strengthen existing communications products, with a specific focus on messaging for key stakeholder groups (financial institutions, multilateral donors, governments, large corporates etc.)
  • Continually innovate new tactics for demand generation including print or social media, and see these ideas through from inception to implementation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leading the promotion of company events, publications, news and implementation of media campaigns
  • Ensuring that all external communications are coordinated—across all offices—in terms of delivery and have a common branding and style
  • Standardization of documents: Development of relevant templates (Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Providing comprehensive editorial support – including copywriting, editing and proof-reading
  • Develop periodical publicity brochures, factsheets, policy papers, case studies, promotional videos, photographs, multimedia material, etc.
  • Support the overseeing of user research and determine audience needs, act on audience feedback
  • Assist with and support the management of the content for the websites and social media channels including feature stories and other media materials

Qualifications and Skills

  • At least 4 – 5 years’ working experience in communications
  • Master’s degree in communications, international or public relations from a reputable university
  • Fluency in English is mandatory for this position
  • Working knowledge in other business languages is considered an advantage
  • Up-to-date proficiency with communications’ best practices, including all kinds of social media
  • Experience in developing and implementing communications strategies
  • Exceptional writing, editing and written communication skills with ability to distil complex concepts into language that is understandable and compelling to business decision makers

Key attributes

  • A minimum of 2 – 3 years’ experience in creative design and infographics for marketing or corporate communications (any experience in conventional or Islamic finance industries will be an added value)
  • A masters or graduate degree in creative design and graphics, marketing or equivalent subjects from a reputable university (any professional qualification will be an advantage)
  • Excellent command on creating new designs and graphics for reports, presentations, communications and brochures (knowledge of computer animations will be an advantage)
